John D. Hallam

Born in Vancouver, BC 1942, John D. Hallam´s extensive scrapbook of newspaper articles and pictures featuring his versatile and prolific talent starts in 1951. The photo in the Vancouver Province shows nine-year-old Hallam intently painting a seascape that even now looks familiar in composition to his work over 50 years later. The event was Federation of Canadian Artists´ Summer Program, “Painting in the Park” and the article is titled Through Young Eyes and reads…

John, who has been painting almost incessantly since he was 7, attended Vancouver Art School Saturday mornings… His instructors say he is a natural.

…And that he is! John D. Hallam has painted and sold his work throughout Canada and Europe. His travels have taken him to Europe for extended stays where he was commissioned to paint in France and Switzerland.

He currently resides in Nanaimo, BC and continues to paint and show his work. Most recent gallery showings have been in Qualicum Beach, Oak Bay, Victoria and the Federation Gallery in Granville Island.

Fine Art – Mixed Media of familiar West Coast and Vancouver Island scenes – A prolific artist, he has sold dozens of his paintings in Vancouver and Vancouver Island. Much of his work is in private collections throughout Canada, Europe and the United States.

Murals in acrylic spanning up to 22 feet in Vancouver, White Rock and Vancouver Island and the Okanagan Valley.
